For an "altered book" assignment. Rather than taking a completed book and altering it, I took a book I had personally made in a previous semester and altered that instead. The butterfly was made from air dry clay and acrylics, to symbolize life cycles.

Special thanks to Mike Koenig from [link] for a couple of the sound effects.

how do you upload vids to da? :O

You have to submit an animation for approval. Then they will accept you into their film crew. They only let people in who aren't going to submit copyrighted materials, which is why you have to be accepted first. The only other way to get in is to be invited by someone who was already invited in (Anyone who was invited gets the ability to invite one other person.).

Since everything you submit to dA is automatically copyrighted by you as an artist, they don't want material that isn't yours popping up. With images they can easily just delete them. With videos you have to worry about not only the individual images but also sound and clips.. So it's a little harder. This is why they're a bit more strict about letting people in.

I hope that was a good explanation. I'm in a bit of a rush so I might have some of the terms wrong. You can find more in the FAQ. :D

Oh Gods.. I don't even know, the initial animation was done about two years ago. The book itself (without the drawings) was created I think four years ago? I drew each frame on tracing paper, that probably took about six hours? The book binding took probably that long too. The photos themselves were probably four hours, only because much of the set up was already in place for other animations I was doing at the time. The sculpture probably only took three hours counting the painting. Animating everything probably took around six hours, not to sure.. Editing the clips and adding sound took around six hours (This is the only thing I'm positive on, since I did it the last couple days.). So probably around 30 hours as a conservative estimate. It was probably more in the 40 hour range.

Thanks a bunch!
